Our immediate and first thought when we hear the word hospice is “it’s the end” for our loved one. However, in recent years, hospice and the thoughts towards it are changing. Did you know that you can receive hospice in-home care and services? Did you know you could receive hospice care for Alzheimer’s or Dementia?

New/Updated 2018 Dementia Memory Care Recommendations

The Alzheimer’s Association has released updated Dementia Care Practices, “2018 Dementia Care Practice Recommendations“. These recommendations are a compilation of community and residential care settings and are based on continual research as well as dementia care experts’ best practices. They includes such items as managing medical care, how to create a dementia-friendly environment, and care planning.

Friday, September, 20, 2013 – A blog posting about another Blog…yes, that’s what we are sharing because it is a very powerful blog written by David Hilfiker, a retired physician who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in September, 2012.  He blogs about his life and what it is like to live with Alzheimer’s.  He wants to “dispel some of the fear and embarrassment that surrounds Alzheimer’s”.

The below link is to his first blog posting in January, 2013.  If you are a patient with Alzheimer’s, know someone living with it, a Caregiver, or just someone interested, this is a MUST read!  We applaud him for being so open and honest.

Monday, July 15, 2013 – According to a new study done in France and reported at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Boston, not retiring until you are ready might help delay Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia.
