Dancing is good for your body, soul AND mind!

There have been many articles and videos about how dancing is good for you. After a 21 year study about leisurely activities and its effects on Alzheimer’s and other dementia diseases, the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that the ONLY physical activity that protects against dementia is frequent dancing!

From their study:

  • Reading – 35% reduced risk of dementia
  • Bicycling and swimming – 0%
  • Doing crossword puzzles at least four days a week – 47%
  • Playing golf – 0%
  • Dancing frequently – 76%.   That was the greatest risk reduction of any activity studied, cognitive or physical.

New/Updated 2018 Dementia Memory Care Recommendations

The Alzheimer’s Association has released updated Dementia Care Practices, “2018 Dementia Care Practice Recommendations“. These recommendations are a compilation of community and residential care settings and are based on continual research as well as dementia care experts’ best practices. They includes such items as managing medical care, how to create a dementia-friendly environment, and care planning.
